WHY SINGLE-STRAND?
Simply put — they are the best! Single-strand eyelash extensions are the most natural of all lash extensions. They stay on the longest and with the proper care, they are non-damaging to your natural lash. A definite ‘must have’ for the busy woman trying to juggle an often hectic lifestyle.
WHO GETS THEM?
Single-strand eyelash extensions are popular with brides, new mommies, vacationers and more recently, the business woman. The entertainment industry also loves our lashes as they make eyes ‘pop’ on film and camera. Others may simply want a fresh look or to make a special impression. Whatever the occasion or reason may be, you will be amazed with the results.
HOW IS IT DONE?
You will be asked to lie down on our facial bed, where our certified eyelash technician will clean and carefully apply medical grade tape to your upper and lower eye area. At your request, we will apply cooling collagen gel pads to your lower eye area for added comfort. Once taped, our certified eyelash technician will ‘go to work’ meticulously applying our single-strand eyelash extensions to your natural lashes. Most clients fall asleep to our soothing music and gentle touch.
HOW DO THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS FEEL?
When applied by our certified eyelash technician, your lash extensions will feel no different than your own lashes. Each synthetic lash mimics the natural lash—being thicker at the base and slightly curled at the tip. They are extremely lightweight and natural that you’ll start believing that the lash extensions are naturally yours.
IS THERE ANY PRE-PREPARATION?
We ask that you come to the Lash Den with no eye makeup. If you wear contact lenses, kindly remove them prior to your appointment.
WILL THEY DAMAGE MY NATURAL EYELASHES?
Rest assured your natural lashes will not be damaged. Our extensions are applied meticulously by our certified eyelash technician. Each lash extension is adhered to one single natural lash, which will grow out naturally as your own lash matures. With our intensive training and expertise, we have the skills and confidence in our application and products. Many clients claim that their lashes become healthier after having single-strand eyelash extensions put on. This may be due to the fact that you’ll no longer need mascara or be required to curl your lashes.
HOW LONG WILL MY SINGLE-STRAND EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
In some cases, eyelash extensions can last up to 6-8 weeks. However, it is common to get a touch up after about 2-4 weeks. Like all hair, there are 3 phases to the eyelash growth cycle:
~ Anagen - the ‘active growth phase’. Only 40% of the upper eyelashes are in active growth at any one time. This phase lasts for 30-45 days.
~ Catagen - the ‘transition phase’ when the eyelash stops growing and the follicle shrinks. This lasts 2-3 weeks.
~ Telogen - this is the ‘resting phase’ and can last over 100 days before the eyelashes fall out.
There are some lashes in each phase at all times, therefore, some will be lost within a couple of weeks as part of the natural cycle.
WHAT KIND OF MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED?
Your lashes will need minimal care and you’ll find that they’ll easily adapt to your own lifestyle. They are resistant to water, perspiration and tears. You can swim, shower and participate in sports. We do however, recommend that you not wear mascara, rub, pull, curl, or go into a sauna while wearing them. CAN I REMOVE THE LASH EXTENSIONS MYSELF?
If you try to remove your extensions without the proper adhesive remover, you will likely pull out your own natural lashes. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you have them removed by our certified eyelash technician. We’ll ensure that upon removal, your natural lashes won’t be damaged.
WHAT KIND OF ADHESIVE DOES THE LASH DEN USE?
The Lash Den uses a medical grade adhesive which has been certified by Health Canada. Our adhesive provides a seamless bond which contributes to the subtlety of having extensions that look natural. It dries very soft on the lashes which keeps them flexible and bouncy. We carry black and clear adhesive—with the clear adhesive being for the fair-haired wishing to have an even more natural look. The black adhesive tends to give the client the appearance of having their top lid lined.
I’M GOING TO A SPECIAL EVENT — WHEN SHOULD I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE SINGLESTRAND EYELASHES PUT ON?
We recommend booking 2 to 3 days prior to your special event to ensure that the lashes have been set and are looking fresh for your special day. If you have sensitive eyes or would like a trial application, you could book in for a new set 2 weeks prior to the event with another touch-up appointment 2 days before.
